Cultural Program Committee are working hard to bring this very special event to members and guests. Please join us for a unique performance and experience with master puppeteer the fifth Tamasuke Yoshida. This special event is open to CWAJ members, guests and the public. Bunraku is Japan’s traditional puppet theatre, originating in 17 th century Osaka. It brings together three art forms-hand operated puppets, dramatic narration and shamisen music to tell deeply human stories. Recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Bunraku remains a living classical art today. The event will include Climatic Performances, “Osome” from the play Shinpan Utazaimon and “Osono” from Hadesugata Onna Maiginu plus some hands-on opportunities for the audience to gain a deeper understanding of Bunraku.
